Basketball Recap: Oakland Wildcats vs. Skyline Titans

The Oakland Wildcats waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They put the hurt on Skyline with a sharp 55-34 win. Given Oakland's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Titans are ranked 612th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Oakland was led to victory by Anthony Lacy and Isaac Johnson. Lacy scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four blocks, while Johnson scored 16 points along with three steals. Johnson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Chapple, who scored 11 points along with four steals.

Oakland is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for Skyline, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oakland will take on the Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Modesto Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matchups. As for Skyline, they will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
