Softball Recap: St. Edward Victorious

While St. Edward's victory against Chicago Christian wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Green Wave had just enough and edged out the Knights 11-10. The win continues a trend for the Green Wave in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won three in a row.

Mackenzie Fitzpatrick was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Francesca Buono, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: St. Edward kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.4.

St. Edward's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Chicago Christian, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Edward will welcome Aurora Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
