Basketball Recap: First Baptist Academy Piles Up the Points Against Gateway Christian

First Baptist Academy waltzed into their game on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They claimed a resounding 72-30 victory over the Gateway Christian Eagles. First Baptist Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 26 points or more this season.

First Baptist Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Timothy De La Rosa led the charge by going 11 for 21 on his way to 28 points and five steals. That's the most points De La Rosa has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Napier, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 boards.

The win got First Baptist Academy back to even at 7-7. As for Gateway Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. It'll be Battle of the Birds when the First Baptist Academy Eagles duke it out with the Founders Christian Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. First Baptist Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Founders Christian likes a good challenge. As for Gateway Christian, they will take on River City Believers Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
