Baseball Recap: Severn School Starts off Right with Win over Pallotti

Severn School gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Pallotti Panthers 9-8. The Admirals haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Colby Benz looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aiden Szydlik, who scored three runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Lawrence Jacobs, who scored two runs and stole Four bases. while going 1-for-3.

Pallotti's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Severn School will venture away from home to square off against St. John's at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Pallotti, they will take on Boys Latin at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
