Baseball Game Preview: Hardin Hornets vs. Orangefield Bobcats

For the second straight game, Hardin will face off against Orangefield. The Hornets will venture away from home to face off against the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hardin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Hardin will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Orangefield, who they had gone 0-7 against in their seven prior meetings. The Hornets had just enough and edged out the Bobcats 11-10 on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Hornets have won by just one run.

Brayden Caldwell looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Trevor Jones, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lleyton Berry, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Hardin is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Orangefield, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster.
