Basketball Recap: Malden Comes Up Short

Malden was the 48-45 winner over Bernie when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Malden Green Wave were beaten by the Bernie Mules 85-42 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Green Wave can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 501st, while the Mules are ranked 132nd).

Malden's loss was their tenth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Bernie, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Malden will challenge East Prairie at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Prairie knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Malden likes a good challenge. As for Bernie, they will face off against Delta at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
