Basketball Recap: Hernando Triumphs

Hernando won the last time they faced Angeline Academy of Innovation, and Daniel Merizalde did his part to make sure it happened again. The Hernando Leopards breezed by the Angeline Academy of Innovation Archers to the tune of 77-29 on Monday thanks in part to Merizalde, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 assists. Those 11 assists gave him a new career-high.

Another player making a difference was Joseph Rivera, who posted two points and four steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last five games he's played.

Hernando's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Angeline Academy of Innovation, they dropped their record down to 0-15 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home.

Hernando won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Crystal River at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hernando is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57 points per game this season. As for Angeline Academy of Innovation, they will head out on the road to square off against Bishop McLaughlin Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
