Basketball Game Preview: Dinwiddie Generals vs. Powhatan Indians

Dinwiddie hasn't had much luck against Powhatan recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Dinwiddie Generals are taking a road trip to square off against the Powhatan Indians at 7:30 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Dinwiddie came up short against Hopewell and fell 55-43. While losing is never fun, the Generals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 239th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 91st).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Madison Batts, who posted 13 points. Another player making a difference was Christiana Jones, who scored nine points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Powhatan). They claimed a resounding 83-22 victory over Richmond City School of the Arts. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Indians have posted since December 16, 2024.

Powhatan's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-6. As for Dinwiddie, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

Dinwiddie came up short against Powhatan in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 50-46. Can Dinwiddie avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
