Baseball Game Preview: Loyola Cubs vs. Notre Dame (SO) Knights

For the second straight game, Loyola will face off against Notre Dame (SO). The Cubs will venture away from home to take on the Knights at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Loyola's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Notre Dame (SO)'s hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Loyola headed into their last contest having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but Notre Dame (SO) let them put that streak behind them. The Cubs blew past the Knights 11-3 on Wednesday. Considering the Cubs' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Jimmy Levy looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Loyola got a big performance out of Davis Bender, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs Bender has posted since back in April. Jack Murray was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

With the victory, Loyola broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 15-9. As for Notre Dame (SO), they dropped their record down to 12-13 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.
