4A District 3 recap November 13, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Oologah, who defeated 45th ranked Catoosa, 24-21.
Adding to the longest winning streak in 4A District 3 this week, Wagoner beat Vinita 31-15. The victory was the 10th in a row for the Bulldogs.
Cleveland's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Derek Reeves threw for 98 and 1 touchdown and Chase Mcwhirt had 54 yards receiving. On the ground Dakota Hewitt contributed 172 yards. Tyler Butcher helped Cleveland's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 24 yards.
Joshua Jacobs was a passing and rushing force as McLain Science & Tech fell to the Tigers. He completed 6 passes for 100 yards and also ran for 150 yards. Jacobs' key target this week was Richard goodeau, who caught 2 passes for 35 yards.
Hewitt was the best running back in the league this week. In 21 carries, he ran for 172 yards as Cleveland bested the Titans. Teammate Reeves added to the ground attack by rushing for 33 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Reeves of Dale Anderson's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,414. He has also thrown 13 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Ty Mercer. The Miami star has 35 catches for 639 yards.
McLain Science & Tech lost to the Tigers 42-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jacobs was a bright spot for Jarvis Payne Sr.'s team, as he ran for 150 yards in the defeat.
