Volleyball Recap: St. Edward Comes Up Short

St. Edward was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Chicago Hope Academy. The Green Wave were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Chicago Hope Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, St. Edward sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-19, 20-25, 25-22.

Ben Aguirre paced St. Edward's offense, picking up four kills. Aguirre got some help from Will Foley and his six assists. Aguirre was also solid from the service line: he led the team with three aces.

St. Edward's record now sits at 1-6. As for Chicago Hope Academy, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. St. Edward is set to square off against their familiar foe Chicago Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Chicago Hope Academy will take on rival Timothy Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
