Basketball Recap: Terrell Thompson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Thomas Stone over Chopticon

Thomas Stone was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 54-48 heartbreaker at the hands of the Chopticon Braves. The Cougars were probably out for revenge after losing 52-48 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Thomas Stone's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Terrell Thompson, who posted 12 points. Brayden Brown was another key player, going 5 of 12 en route to 12 points.

Chopticon was led to victory by Brian McMahon and Blaine Ganley. McMahon went 5 for 12 on his way to 19 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals, while Ganley went 7 of 9 en route to 16 points. McMahon has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Fenwick, who earned nine points and six boards.

Thomas Stone's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Chopticon, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-6.

Thomas Stone wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 82-54 loss against Leonardtown on the 22nd. As for Chopticon, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-48 defeat against St. Charles on the 22nd.
