Baseball Recap: Mineral Ridge Wins Going Away Against Columbiana

Mineral Ridge had won three straight at home, but on Saturday they bumped their record up to 18-4 to make it four. They put the hurt on the Columbiana Clippers with a sharp 7-1 victory. Considering the Rams have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Xavier Klamer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Dom Balestrino and AJ Sandy did most of the damage at the plate: Balestrino went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI, while Sandy got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.

As for Columbiana, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-16 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

On Columbiana's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avery Young, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

As of now, neither Mineral Ridge nor the Clippers have any future games scheduled.
