Baseball Recap: Franklin County Triumphs + How To Watch

Franklin County let Lawrence County stack seven runs on them in the seventh inning on Monday but luckily Franklin County prevailed anyway. The Rebels had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 8-7. The game was the first time the Rebels have beaten the Wildcats on their field since March 21, 2018.

Layton Jones and Ayden Hodosi did most of the damage at the plate: Jones went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Hodosi went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Jones a new career-high. Braden Jackson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Franklin County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Lawrence County, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 17-6.

Franklin County will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
