Basketball Game Preview: Keys Gate Knights vs. Calvary Christian Academy Eagles

Two dominant guards in Essence Deleon and Taryn Wakefield are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. After both having extra time off, the Keys Gate Knights and the Calvary Christian Academy Eagles will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 1:40 p.m. on Friday.

Two weeks ago, Keys Gate came up short against Palmer Trinity and fell 49-37. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while the Falcons are ranked 151st).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Calvary Christian Academy). They put the hurt on Boca Raton Christian with a sharp 53-32 victory last Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles who have now won three matches in a row.

Calvary Christian Academy's win came from a few key players Keys Gate will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Wakefield, who posted 23 points. That's the most points she has posted since back in January. Teagan Wakefield was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Calvary Christian Academy pushed their record up to 5-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Keys Gate, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
