Volleyball Game Preview: Foothill Falcons vs. De La Salle Spartans

After both having extra time off, the Foothill Falcons and the De La Salle Spartans will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Foothill will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, Foothill had just enough and edged out Dublin 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Falcons have posted against the Gaels since March 9, 2023.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between De La Salle and Monte Vista, and De La Salle kept the tradition alive. The Spartans put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 3-0 victory last Thursday. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

While De La Salle won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-18, 25-20.

De La Salle's win came from a few key players Foothill will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Owen McDonagh, who had three digs and two aces. That's the most aces he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Xavier Wirth, who had 12 assists and three digs.

Foothill's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6. As for De La Salle, their record is now 16-5.
