Volleyball Recap: Bennington Comes Up Short

The Bennington Badgers came up short against the Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks on Friday and fell 2-0. The Badgers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

While Bennington was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-23.

Hayden Liebsack paced Bennington's offense, picking up 16 kills. Liebsack got some help from Kate Sebree and her 20 assists. Liebsack was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Lincoln Southwest found their leader in sophomore Taryn Weigel, who had five digs and two aces. Suzie Riggins also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Bennington's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Lincoln Southwest, their victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2.

Bennington has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Duchesne on the 27th. As for Lincoln Southwest, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Omaha Westside on the 27th.
