Baseball Recap: Cherokee Trail Comes Up Short

Cherokee Trail fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Arvada West on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 4-3.

Carter Wilcox was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cherokee Trail saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Ceyrolles, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Ceyrolles also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

Cherokee Trail's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Arvada West, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cherokee Trail will take on Heritage at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Arvada West, they will challenge Fort Collins at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
