Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Vernon-Enola Warhawks vs. Nemo Vista Red Hawks

The Mt. Vernon-Enola Warhawks will face off against the Nemo Vista Red Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Mt. Vernon-Enola is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They lost 10-0 to Rose Bud. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Mt. Vernon-Enola saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tucker Henry, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Nemo Vista came up short against Perryville on Tuesday, falling 13-6. That's two games in a row now that the Red Hawks have lost by exactly seven runs.

Lane Jones was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Jones is crushing it when it comes to hits: he's got at least three every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Strack, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

This is the second loss in a row for Nemo Vista and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Mt. Vernon-Enola, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mt. Vernon-Enola has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Nemo Vista struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Everything went Mt. Vernon-Enola's way against Nemo Vista in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Mt. Vernon-Enola made off with a 9-1 win. Will Mt. Vernon-Enola repeat their success, or does Nemo Vista have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
