Football Game Preview: Oakridge Owls vs. Greenhill Hornets

The Oakridge Owls will challenge the Greenhill Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Oakridge has nine straight victories, Greenhill has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Oakridge had to skate by with only a one-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 33-point drubbing they dealt KIPP Sunnyside last Saturday. The Owls claimed a resounding 51-18 win over KIPP Sunnyside. The result was nothing new for the Owls, who have now won five contests by 33 points or more so far this season.

Oakridge's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB seven times. The heavy lifting was done by Easton Jefferson and Joshua Dees, who racked up five sacks between them. Jefferson has been hot recently, having also posted six or more total tackles the last four times he's played. Yadian Warren was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making six total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, after soaring to 31 points the game before, Greenhill was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They were beaten by Houston Christian 51-7.

Greenhill's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Oakridge, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0.

Oakridge was able to grind out a solid win over Greenhill in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, winning 24-14. Do the Owls have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
