Edinburg North is 8-2 against Economedes since November of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Last Friday, Edinburg North strolled past Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest with points to spare, taking the game 38-20. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Javelinas: they've now won six in a row.

Meanwhile, Economedes didn't have too much trouble with St. Joseph Academy last Friday as they won 61-46.

The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Johan Nunez and Gavin Cisneros. Nunez had a great game and rushed for 124 yards and two TDs on only 14 carries. Meanwhile, Cisneros was balling out in the loss, rushing for 153 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.3 yards per carry, and also throwing for 283 yards and three TDs.

Economedes didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Mark Chavira and Jaime Eguia. With that strong performance, Chavira is now averaging an impressive 5.4 total tackles per game.

Edinburg North's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Economedes, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
