Hickory is 8-2 against East Lincoln since December of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The two teams will face off at 7:00 p.m. without much rest, having both just played. Hickory knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matchups -- so hopefully East Lincoln likes a good challenge.
On Monday, Hickory didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against St. Stephens, but they still walked away with a 70-64 win. Given the Red Tornadoes' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Indians are ranked 385th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, on MondayNorth Iredell kept up with East Lincoln until halftime, but afterwards: not so much. East Lincoln really took it to North Iredell for the full four quarters, racking up an 87-55 victory. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 21 points or more this season.
East Lincoln found their leader in sophomore Jaxon Dollar, who dropped a triple-double with 26 points, ten boards, and 11 assists. Dollar is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Landon Aungst, who made all 6 shots he took to post 13 points and four steals.
East Lincoln smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.
Hickory pushed their record up to 16-4 with the win, which was their 26th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.9 points over those games. As for East Lincoln, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.
Hickory didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against East Lincoln in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 73-68 victory. Does Hickory have another victory up their sleeve, or will East Lincoln turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
