Recap: New Rockford-Sheyenne Rockets vs. St. John Woodchucks
The New Rockford-Sheyenne Rockets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 57-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. John. While losing is never fun, New Rockford-Sheyenne can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while St. John is ranked 14th).
St. John's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alani Morin led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Morin scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaycee Desjarlais, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
New Rockford-Sheyenne has fallen quite a ways from their 12-3 record last season and are now at 1-4. As for St. John, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
New Rockford-Sheyenne will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Velva at 3:00 p.m. on December 28th. Velva is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for St. John, they will take on North Prairie co-op [Rolla/Rolette] at TBD on Thursday.
