3A Conference 10 recap September 4, 2013
Joey Lanier and Daquan Sawyers provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Cummings. The connection went for 63 yards, the longest such play in 3A Conference 10 this season.
Northern Guilford was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to second in the league. The Nighthawks beat Page 21-14 earlier in the week.
Malcom Summers was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 14 carries, he ran for 135 yards as Eastern Alamance beat the Cavaliers. John Lamont also contributed to the rushing game with 81 yards on the ground.
Austin Coltrane put up the best numbers in passing as Northern Guilford topped the Pirates. He finished with a total of 12 completions for 109 yards and 2 touchdowns. Coltrane's favorite target this week was Cam Harris, who caught 4 passes for 50 yards.
Sawyers was the best receiver in 3A Conference 10 this week as the Eagles defeated Cummings. Gavin Dicken helped Eastern Alamance's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 41 yards.
Lamont provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Eastern Alamance topped the Cavaliers.
Rockingham County's 5-foot-9 quarterback Daniel Cardwell is the league leader in passing yards this season with 221. The leading receiver in the league this season is Sawyers. The Eastern Alamance star has 4 catches for 136 yards.
Morehead scaled the state rankings by moving to 203 from 273 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Panthers climbed the ranks as a result of besting Martinsville 32-0.
