Football Recap: Walton Raiders vs. Marietta Blue Devils
Walton fought the good fight in their overtime game against Marietta on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 41-38. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game two weeks ago (34), the Raiders still had to take the loss.
Walton lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Christion Peacock, who rushed for 121 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.6 yards per carry, and also threw for 154 yards and three TDs. Noriega Thompson was another key player, gaining 138 total yards and two touchdowns.
Marietta's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Green, who picked up 85 receiving yards and three scores. That's the most receiving yards Green has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Whiteside, who threw for 149 yards and four touchdowns.
Walton now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Marietta, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-4.
