Baseball Game Preview: Compton Tarbabes vs. Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits

Compton is 0-10 against Long Beach Poly since April of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Tarbabes will face off against the Jackrabbits at 4:00 p.m. Compton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

Compton is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They fell 6-3 to Cabrillo.

Compton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rafael Vicente, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Anthony Lopez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Long Beach Poly and Woodrow Wilson had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Jackrabbits took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bruins on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Jackrabbits in their meetings with the Bruins: they've now lost three in a row.

Long Beach Poly also got a good showing from Ryan King, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. What's more, King gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in March.

Compton's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12-1. As for Long Beach Poly, their loss dropped their record down to 12-12.

Compton couldn't quite get it done against Long Beach Poly in their previous matchup back in April as they fell 4-0. Can the Tarbabes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
