Menchville has gone 8-2 against Hampton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Monarchs will head out on the road to take on the Crabbers at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Menchville beats Hampton with 17 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Monarchs never let Woodside get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Monarchs in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now won eight in a row.
Meanwhile, Hampton strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over Heritage.
Jayden Valentine was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Zack Reynolds looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.
Back at the plate, Xavier Nixon was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with six stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those six stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaycob Flores, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Hampton pushed their record up to 13-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Menchville, their record now sits at 9-4.
Menchville took their win against Hampton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 7-1 score. Do the Monarchs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Crabbers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
