Recap: Venice Indians vs. Booker Tornadoes

The Venice Indians were the 62-55 winner over the Booker Tornadoes when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Venice took a 61-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Booker on Friday. Venice has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Venice lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Deylen Platt, who scored 15 points. Chad Fleming was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five assists and two steals.

Jovan Palavra was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points for Booker. Palavra is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamareon Ruffin, who scored 11 points.

Venice has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Booker, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Venice will take on Lemon Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lemon Bay is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Booker, they will head out on the road to face off against Bayshore at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bayshore is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
