Volleyball Recap: Hayden Pontius Key Part of Team Effort in Longhorns Win

West Field proved they can win big two weeks ago (they won by three) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Mountain Crest Mustangs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in March.

West Field took Mountain Crest into a fifth set where they got it done with a 11-point win. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-22, 23-25, 25-22, 15-4.

West Field got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Hayden Pontius out in front who had 16 digs. Those 16 digs gave Pontius a new career-high.

West Field is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-10 record this season. As for Mountain Crest, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

West Field wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Ridgeline on the 10th. As for Mountain Crest, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Logan on the 10th.
