Football Game Preview: Colonia Patriots vs. Old Bridge Knights

The Colonia Patriots will head out to take on the Old Bridge Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Colonia will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Cranford, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Patriots put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 40-15 win on Friday. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 21 points or more this season.

Colonia's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dylan Chiera, who threw for 273 yards and four TDs while completing 75% of his passes. That's the most passing touchdowns Chiera has posted since back in September of 2024. Kyle Bell was another key rusher, gaining 167 total yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Old Bridge had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 45-29 victory over the Red Devils.

Colonia's record now sits at 6-2. As for Old Bridge, their record is now 7-1.

Colonia couldn't quite get it done against Old Bridge when the teams last played back in October of 2024 as they fell 36-29. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Knights' Brody Nugent, who rushed for 156 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 131 yards and a pair of TDs.
