Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Evan Johnson and Braden Ehlers Lead Gothenburg to Victory

Gothenburg owes their defense a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 14-0 win over the Broken Bow Indians. The Swedes haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Gothenburg was led to victory by Braden Ehlers and Evan Johnson. Ehlers rushed for 61 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Johnson rushed for 132 yards. With that strong performance, Johnson is now averaging an impressive 101.8 rushing yards per game.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Gothenburg was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 204 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 173 rushing yards in four consecutive games.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Gothenburg's defense and their three sacks. Leading the way was Axel Jorgenson with two.

Gothenburg's record now sits at 8-1. As for Broken Bow, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Coming up, Gothenburg will face off against Fort Calhoun at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Johnson and Kaiden Rodriguez. Broken Bow does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
