Softball Game Preview: Lodi Blue Wolves vs. Becton Wildcats

The Lodi Blue Wolves will venture away from home to take on the Becton Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lodi will be strutting in after a victory while Becton will be coming in after a defeat.

Lodi barely beat Tenafly the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Blue Wolves never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Blue Wolves.

Kayla Fernandes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Fernandes was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That double was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Leah Durante was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Melody Zuniga, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Lodi always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tenafly only posted an OBP of .222.

Meanwhile, Becton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 15-0 to Saddle Brook.

Lodi now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Becton, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-13.

Lodi beat Becton 12-9 in their previous matchup on April 8th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Wolves since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
