Preview: Vincennes Lincoln Alices vs. Evansville Central Bears

The Vincennes Lincoln Alices's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Evansville Central Bears at 7:00 p.m. on December 16th. Vincennes Lincoln has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Friday, everything came up roses for Vincennes Lincoln on the road against Shoals as the team secured a 56-29 win. Given Vincennes Lincoln's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while Shoals is ranked 366th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Vincennes Lincoln got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Joshua Clegg out in front who scored nine points along with three steals. Clegg hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Joel Sanders, who scored 13 points.

Meanwhile, Evansville Central pushed their score all the way to 65 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to North Posey 69-65. Even though they lost, Evansville Central's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 51.8 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Landyn Richason, who scored 20 points. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. Zaryen Moore was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five steals.

Even though they lost, Evansville Central were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Vincennes Lincoln now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Evansville Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Saturday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Vincennes Lincoln have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 24.7 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Evansville Central, though, as they've been averaging only 18.5 rebounds per game. Given Vincennes Lincoln's sizeable advantage in that area, Evansville Central will need to find a way to close that gap.

Vincennes Lincoln lost to Evansville Central on the road by a decisive 60-46 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Vincennes Lincoln avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
