Baseball Recap: Dodd City Takes a Loss

Dodd City lost against Sam Rayburn two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Dodd City came up short against Sam Rayburn, falling 16-7. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Dodd City saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Shindler, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Shindler has become a key player for Dodd City: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-5 otherwise. Kaleb Covington also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Dodd City's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Sam Rayburn, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2-1 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dodd City will welcome Tom Bean at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dodd City's pitchers better be ready for this one: Tom Bean has averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Sam Rayburn, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Tioga at 6:30 p.m.
