Preview: Redfield Pheasants vs. Belle Fourche Broncs
The Redfield Pheasants just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Belle Fourche Broncs at 6:30 p.m. on February 9th. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 11 consecutive losses for Redfield and four for Belle Fourche.
On Thursday, Redfield had to suffer through a rough 66-22 loss at the hands of Groton. Redfield has struggled against Groton recently, as their match on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 81-28, which was the final score in Belle Fourche's tilt against Rapid City Christian on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Belle Fourche can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Rapid City Christian is ranked seventh).
Carter McKenna was Belle Fourche's leading scorer, having posted eight points.
Redfield's loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Belle Fourche, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.
Redfield couldn't quite finish off Belle Fourche in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 and fell 57-54. Thankfully for Redfield, Anthony Budmayr (who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and six assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
