Softball Recap: Tri-County Extends Home Winning Streak to 15

Tri-County won the last time they faced Clinton Central and things went their way on Saturday too. The Cavaliers blew past the Bulldogs 17-2. Considering the Cavaliers have won 14 contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Reese Johnson and Madilyn Nevitt made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Johnson tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Nevitt pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Johnson went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Nevitt went 1-for-3 with three runs and one triple. That's the most RBI Johnson has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Tri-County got a massive performance out of Kami Wilkerson, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those five RBI gave Wilkerson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Dominguez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Tri-County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Tri-County pushed their record up to 19-2 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Clinton Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Tri-County beat Clinton Central by a score of 12-5 later that day.
