Baseball Recap: Long Branch Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Long Branch had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost 18-5 to the Freehold Boro Colonials on Monday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Long Branch saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carlos Torres, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Noah Hoogmoed was another, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Long Branch will venture away from home to face off against Henry Hudson at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The contest will give Long Branch their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Freehold Boro, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Central Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
