Baseball Game Preview: Edison Golden Bears vs. Brennan Bears

The Edison Golden Bears will take on the Brennan Bears at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Edison 2.6, Brennan 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Brennan will be up against a hot Edison squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Edison's pitcher stepped up to hand Brackenridge a 4-0 shutout on Friday.

Not much got past Luis Garcia Smith, who gave up just six hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Brackenridge off the board. That's the most strikeouts Garcia Smith has posted since back in February.

At the plate, Samaad Bunch was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hector Narvaez, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Brennan made easy work of Marshall on Friday and carried off an 8-1 victory. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.

Brennan is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. Edison's victory bumped their record up to 10-4.

Edison came out on top in a nail-biter against Brennan in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Does Edison have another victory up their sleeve, or will Brennan turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
