Softball Recap: Dequincy Beats Grand Lake for Their Third Straight Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but DeQuincy had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They blew past the Grand Lake Hornets 9-1. Considering the Tigers have won 14 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Maddie Vinatieri made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Onnie Remedies, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Audi Flower was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

DeQuincy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 9-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory was the third in a row for DeQuincy, bringing their record up to 21-14. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Grand Lake, they moved to 16-14 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

As of now, neither DeQuincy nor the Hornets have any future games scheduled.
