Football Recap: Edinburg North Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Edinburg North duked it out with Weslaco on Friday. The Cougars took a blow against the Panthers, falling 54-6. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-6.

Chris Luna had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 262 yards and six touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also rushing for 110 yards and one TD on only eight carries for Weslaco. Another player making a difference was Joseph Leal, who picked up 95 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

This is the second loss in a row for Edinburg North and nudges their season record down to 1-6. As for Weslaco, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

Edinburg North didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 48-34 defeat against La Joya on the 23rd. As for Weslaco, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 44-0 victory against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo on the 24th.
