Basketball Recap: Zoey Smith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Severance over Timnath

Severance was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 42-40 heartbreaker at the hands of the Timnath Cubs.

Severance lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Zoey Smith, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Overton, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Severance smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Severance's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Timnath, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

When Severance and Timnath next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Severance will try to stop Thompson Valley's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Timnath will try to stop Berthoud's nine-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
