Football Recap: Upperman Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Greeneville

Upperman faced Greeneville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Bees took a 41-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Greene Devils. The Bees were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Greene Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.

Several Bees players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bronzdon Chaffin, who rushed for 150 yards and three TDs, and also threw for 127 yards on 11 of 18 attempts. Another rusher making a difference was Carmine Phillips, who rushed for 140 yards on only 13 carries.

Upperman's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Greeneville, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Upperman will face off against Farragut at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Greeneville, they will take on Northview Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Greene Devils their first taste of in-conference action this season.
