It'll be an old-fashioned rodeo when the Mustangs challenge the Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wekiva is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Wekiva will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Jones on Thursday. Wekiva was the clear victors by a 24-9 margin over Jones. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Fightin' Tigers: they've now won nine in a row.
Brady Reinert made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Reinert was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while going 4-for-4. Wekiva is 2-1 when Reinert posts two or more stolen bases, but 0-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Darelle Martinez, who scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Lukas Robinson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Wekiva kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jones onlymanaged four hits.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, Davenport made sure to put some runs up on the board against Ocoee on Thursday. Davenport came out on top against Ocoee by a score of 13-8. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Broncos' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Jacob Bishop was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Luis Escalera was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Davenport's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Wekiva, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-4.
Wekiva's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's game. Wekiva has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Davenport, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Wekiva continue to outrun the ball?
Wekiva beat Davenport 6-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wekiva since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
