Basketball Game Preview: Archbishop Moeller Fighting Crusaders vs. Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds

The Archbishop Moeller Fighting Crusaders are taking a road trip to square off against the Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Archbishop Moeller will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Friday, Archbishop Moeller needed a bit of extra time to put away Elder. They managed a 49-44 win over the Panthers.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Newport Central Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They strolled past Scott with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 76-58. The victory was some much needed relief for the Thoroughbreds as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Archbishop Moeller's record is now 13-4. As for Newport Central Catholic, their record is now 9-11.

Archbishop Moeller took their win against Newport Central Catholic in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 56-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Archbishop Moeller since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
