The Mt. Vernon Wildcats will challenge the Boonville Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Vernon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.7 points per game this season.

It was a proper cat-fight when Mt. Vernon duked it out with Evansville Memorial on Tuesday. Mt. Vernon took a blow against Evansville Memorial, falling 60-31. The game marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite their defeat, Mt. Vernon saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Bryce Clowers, who posted nine points, was perhaps the best of all. Meyer Robb was another key player, putting up eight points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, Boonville was able to grind out a solid win over Evansville Day on Tuesday, taking the game 66-56. Given the Pioneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while the Eagles are ranked 394th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mt. Vernon now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Boonville, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-9.

Mt. Vernon was able to grind out a solid win over Boonville in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 52-45. Will Mt. Vernon repeat their success, or does Boonville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
