Basketball Game Preview: Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Eagles vs. Buford Wolves

The Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Buford Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rabun Gap-Nacoochee has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with three straight defeats, while Buford will come in with seven straight victories.

Last Tuesday, Rabun Gap-Nacoochee came up short against Asheville Christian Academy and fell 61-52. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 171st in Georgia, while the Lions are ranked 34th in North Carolina).

Meanwhile, Buford didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Calvary Day on Monday, but they still walked away with a 76-72 win.

Buford is also on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.2 points per game. As for Rabun Gap-Nacoochee, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee might still be hurting after the 65-42 defeat they got from Buford in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Rabun Gap-Nacoochee avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
