Basketball Recap: Eastside Comes Up Short

On Tuesday, the Eastside Eagles were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 62-57 to the Boiling Springs Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 30th).

Despite the loss, Eastside still got an impressive performance from Thomas Rouse, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. Those nine boards gave Rouse a new career-high. Brandon Ray was another key player, going 6 of 14 on his way to 16 points.

Eastside's loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Boiling Springs, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-4.

Eastside will host Woodmont at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Woodmont has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Boiling Springs, they will venture away from home to square off against Riverside at 7:30 p.m. on January 14th. Riverside has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 210 points over their last three matchups.
