Volleyball Recap: IC Catholic Prep Starts Season with Defeat at Home + How To Watch

IC Catholic Prep unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Payton College Prep Grizzlies by a score of 2-1 on Monday. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Grizzlies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, IC Catholic Prep sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 19-25, 25-21.

Alli Keenan paced IC Catholic Prep's offense, picking up eight kills. Keenan got some help from Mary Kate Hilgart and her 16 assists. Keenan was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

IC Catholic Prep will challenge Westmont at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Payton College Prep, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 victory against Willowbrook on the 26th.
