Football Recap: Madison Falls to Santa Fe Christian in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Madison unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 30-20 to the Santa Fe Christian Eagles on Friday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Madison lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Romeo Pepi, who picked up 42 receiving yards and two scores.

Even if they lost, Madison's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In that department, Runnar 'RJ' Miller was the leader with two.

Dax Labrum was a one-man wrecking crew For Santa Fe Christian. as he threw for 331 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt. Those 331 passing yards gave Labrum a new career-high. Chase Woolley was Labrum's top target, picking up 65 receiving yards and one TD.

Coming up, Madison is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Steele Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Santa Fe Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Valley Center at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
