The Falcon Falcons will head out to square off against the Canon City Tigers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Falcon will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Falcon lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Manitou Springs, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's matchup. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 23-4 margin over the Mustangs on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won nine contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Brayden Millikan was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. Talan Chubb also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Falcon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .552. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .381 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Canon City earned a 7-2 win over Mesa Ridge on Thursday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Peter Hershberger made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Bell, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. Rocco Montoya was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Falcon's record now sits at 13-1. As for Canon City, their record is now 12-2.
Falcon's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's matchup. The Falcons have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Canon City, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Falcon continue to outrun the ball?
Falcon skirted past Canon City 6-5 in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
